The Arrival of the Dyson DC01
In 1993, Dyson introduced the DC01 to the UK market and it quickly became one of the most talked-about vacuum cleaners of its generation. With its bagless cyclonic technology, clear dust bin and distinctive design, it challenged the traditional vacuum cleaner industry and changed customer expectations forever.
we still remember selling some of the very first Dyson DC01 machines when they were launched. The retail price was £199.99, and every dealer was required to sell the machine at that price. Dyson maintained strict pricing policies and any dealer found selling below the recommended retail price risked losing their supply agreement.
At the time, £199.99 was a significant amount of money for a vacuum cleaner, but customers were attracted by the promise of no loss of suction and the innovative bagless design. The DC01 became the foundation of Dyson's success and marked the beginning of a new era in floorcare technology.
More than 30 years later, Dyson remains one of the world's leading floorcare brands, and today CCES Vac-Services continues to repair and support Dyson products, from early vacuum cleaners through to modern cordless models and Dyson Hair Care appliances.

Long before online booking forms, social media and cordless vacuum cleaners, our journey in the floorcare industry began in 1986 through formal engineering training with Hoover PLC.
Over the decades we have repaired, serviced, supported and trained within the cleaning equipment industry, working with everything from traditional upright vacuum cleaners to today's advanced domestic and commercial cleaning systems.
The photographs on this page are genuine moments from that journey. They represent nearly four decades spent inside the industry rather than looking at it from the outside.
Original Hoover Service Literature From The 1980s
Original Hoover parts catalogues, service manuals and technical literature retained from the 1980s. These manuals were used for parts identification, fault diagnosis and servicing during the early years of my career in the floorcare industry.
About the Dyson G-Force
Unable to find support for his invention in the UK, James Dyson licensed his first design for a bagless vacuum cleaner in Japan. The high-tech form, striking colours and Cyclone feature, allowing continuous suction, of the G-Force were a success and in 1993 funded his production of the DCO1.

Hoover Junior Model 1334 was Hoover’s third total redesign of the highly popular Junior model, again the work of Henry Dreyfuss. For the first time, all the mechanics were enclosed in a streamlined alloy hood, reminiscent from some angles of the Volkswagen Beetle. The colour scheme was ‘white and rose’.
